Who is (G)I-DLE?
(G)I-DLE is a girl group from Cube Entertainment that originally debuted as a six-piece in 2018 with members Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Yuqi, Shuhua, and Soojin. Soojin left in 2019 to pursue a solo career. Upon debut, the group released the single ‘Latata’ as part of their first EP ‘I Am’.
The girl group is one of the most successful ones outside of the ‘Big Four’ record labels. Part of their success is attributed to their direct involvement in their music. Soyeon has written and produced a number of their songs while Minnie and Yuqi have already participated in some tracks. They further rose to prominence with the release of their first album, ‘I Never Die’ which was certified platinum by the KMCA.
Their song ‘Queendom’ from the EP ‘I Feel’ became their third number-one single in South Korea. It was also their first record to sell over a million copies. Their most recent release is their second full-length album ‘2’ which also received commercial success.
